Growing up....

Growing up I used to draw cars to impress the boys in my class. Later on I drew girls to impress the boys in my class.
In fifth grade my friends sister's drew at the kitchen table, I was captivated by them drawing fashion all the time. Somehow it all interested me from that point on. In high school, I was so impressed and influenced with fashion illustration that it felt like a dream to me instead of reality. Like how can I do that kinda thing? My high school art teacher Jess Quintana told me to move to NYC and pursue this dream--I'm doing it now!
I have a quote: Never, Never, Never Give Up! -Franklin Roosevelt.

New Life, New York....

I arrived in NYC in September, going from job to job, learning new culture, exposing myself to new things and ways, trying to understand the new land and the people that live here. Now I'm at a point where I want to focus on my art and to see where it'll go.
I have to say I'm embarrassed I didn't put any energy here on this blog, I'm so distracted from everyday life--I sometimes forget.
Tomorrow there's an event at FIT on Daniel Egneus and I'm going to visit Society of Illustrators office. My friends say follow your heart....

Hello New York City!

This month is CRAZY for me! I feel overwelmed getting everything ready to move to NYC. My last month at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and getting everything ready is more than what I expected.
I can remember my days back in high school in Edgewater Colorado. My art teacher, Jess Quintana was my mentor. He said to me
"You need to move to New York" but I felt too scared to move to the Big Apple. The schools in Denver REALLY suck if you want to do Fashion Illustration or any Art (notice I used the capital A). I'm glad I attended AAU, I feel more confident in myself and in my work. It's interesting how "caliber" of education makes me feel.
So, do what you love to do and even though the timing is off in your life---keep it...chew on it...savor it and see if you still like it...I bet you still do!
